ever since i was a kid…

. . . I have loved animals. My two dogs, Dyer and Junior, have traveled the world with me.  Along the way, I have experienced and seen firsthand, the issues caused by overpopulation of cats and dogs. Millions of homeless dogs and cats are killed in US shelters each year. In each MASTERMINDS podcast, we will dedicate a section to PAWS Up! talking about the simple things every listener can do to make a difference in the lives of at risk animals.

I’ve partnered with PAWS Chicago, a true leader in No Kill animal sheltering, because every dollar goes to saving the lives of animals. PAWS Chicago has built a national No Kill model that has reduced the number of pets killed in Chicago by 92 PERCENT since they were founded in 1997. Visit them at www.pawschicago.org.

PAWS UP! MISSION

Over 2,000 dogs are killed in animal shelters every day in America. In conjunction with PAWS Chicago, we aim to educate and create awareness about animal welfare and over population through the PAWS UP! program.

how can you support paws chicago and no kill shelters?

DONATE:

o   PAWS Chicago’s lifesaving work is only possible because of the support of animal-loving community members. We do not receive financial support from federal, state or local government so our lifesaving work is 100 percent reliant upon the community’s generosity.

o   Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest independent evaluator, has rated PAWS Chicago at its highest 4-star ranking for 17 consecutive years—an accomplishment that less than 1% of the charities in the nation have reached.

ADOPT:

o   When you adopt you helped save TWO lives--the life of the pet you are taking home and that of another who is now able to come into the adoption program.

o   PAWS Chicago provides extensive resources to help pets make a seamless transition into their new homes and provides a lifetime safety net for every animal adopted, ensuring that if something happens to the adopter, their PAWS pet will always be cared for.

 FOSTER:

o   A great opportunity if you’re not quite ready to adopt!

o   PAWS Chicago’s Foster Program is critical to our rescue work. It enables us to increase the number of homeless pets we can save by placing them in temporary foster homes. Foster homes also give pets a warm, loving environment to heal, grow and flourish. We will provide all of the food and any medical supplies necessary to care for your foster.

VOLUNTEER:

o   Volunteers are the life force of PAWS Chicago. They touch every aspect of the organization and provide the highest-quality care for our pets. Every volunteer and PAWS ambassador in the community enables us to magnify our impact and save more lives.
